Return To Play Update

Further to the government’s announcement that gyms, indoor pools and leisure centres will be allowed to open from 25th July 2020, we thought it was pertinent to give you an update.

While the government advice is that these facilities can open, it wont be as simple as being able to start badminton once Gosling opens the hall, GLL (who own Gosling) will have their own roadmap plan in place and procedures that we will need to ensure that we follow. The Trust are in communication with GLL and are meeting with them this week to find out their plans for reopening the hall. The Trust will let the user groups know the outcome so we can work towards getting back to badminton. For those who are haven’t heard a mention of the Trust until now, let me briefly explain who they are. The Trust is made up of a group of volunteers who are the ‘voice’ for communication between the user groups of the park (badminton, cycling, tennis, athletics etc) and GLL.

In addition to this, we are keeping up to date with the advice given by Badminton England, along with attending webinars they have provided. Please see the following link which will give you guidance from Badminton England that we will be following once badminton resumes: https://www.badmintonengland.co.uk/media/8903/rtp-clubs-2.pdf

Once we are able to return, we will need to have various procedures in place that follow the guidelines given by the government, GLL, and Badminton England so badminton may not be quite how you remembered it for a while. We will send out information so you have an idea of what a badminton session might look like when we do return and for the time being until all restrictions are lifted by the government so keep an eye out for emails from us.
